How Paul Stretford has made a fortune from Wayne Rooney and wife Coleen | The Sun |Sport|Football: "ALEX FERGUSON had a target in his sights as he faced up to the prospect of losing Wayne Rooney this week.
He complained: 'We're dealing with agents who live in the pockets of players.'
And the agent negotiating Rooney's imminent exit from Manchester United stands to pocket at least £2.5million from the move.
Paul Stretford has already made a fortune off the back of his most famous client, since acquiring the player's services eight years ago.
But behind the sharp suits and lucrative deals lies an extraordinary tale of gangsters, threats, deceit, lies, dodgy lawyers and blackmail.
As top investigative journalist John Sweeney sets out in his book 'Rooney's Gold', the fight for access to the England star's bank balance reads more like an underworld crime thriller than a sports biography.
The dramatic full story was finally revealed in a bitter court battle, which ended with Stretford being dismissed as an unreliable witness and subsequently banned and fined by the FA."
