Kent News - Blackmailers jailed after sending in 'Mad Jack': "blackmailer who sent a heavily-scarred bodybuilder nicknamed ‘Mad Jack' to collect £400,000 from a rival businessman has been jailed for two years and four months.
Lakhbir Bhana, 41, from Gravesend, ordered the henchman to obtain the cash from haulage boss Colin Basi.
Bhana, nicknamed ‘Lucky', co-conspirators Surjit Bhalla, 29, of Staines, and Ajmal Ellahi, 34, of Birmingham, and ‘Mad Jack', real name John Francis Phillips, 49, of Reading, were all found guilty of conspiracy to blackmail at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, July 26.
They were all sentenced at the same court on Wednesday, October 20.
The court heard how the four men engaged in an elaborate conspiracy to obtain the six-figure sum from Mr Basi.
They were led by Bhana, the director of Dyneema, a Gravesend construction company that carried out works for Medway-based haulage firm KKB."
